Road Trip Bingo Card Generator

Printable car bingo for the back seat – things to spot or pictures for young kids, a different card for every passenger.

Road trip bingo is a printable game for car passengers. Each person gets a bingo card with things to spot outside the window, and the first to mark a full line wins. This page has a free bingo card generator that runs in your web browser. There is no sign-up, and nothing is uploaded: the cards are made on your own device.

The page opens with a preset Road trip list already loaded, so you can make a car bingo printable set in a few clicks. You can change the items, grid size and number of cards to suit your route. If you are travelling with young children who cannot read yet, there is a picture list too.

How to use the road trip bingo generator

  1. Open the page. It starts in “My words” mode with the Road trip list loaded and the card title set to ROAD TRIP BINGO.
  2. Check the word list box. It holds one item per line. Edit items, add new ones or delete any you will not see.
  3. Choose a grid size: 3 × 3, 4 × 4 or 5 × 5.
  4. For a 3 × 3 or 5 × 5 grid, switch on the free space in the centre if you want one. You can change its text from the default FREE.
  5. Set the number of cards, from 1 to 500 per set. The default is 10.
  6. Choose print options: 1, 2 or 4 cards per page, US Letter or A4 paper, a card title, an optional letters row, an optional card number and one of six colours.
  7. Use Previous and Next to look through the cards in the preview.
  8. Click Print cards. To print a shuffled calling order with tick boxes and the full list for checking a winner, click Print call list.

Click New set for new random cards with a new game code. Click Copy link to save the exact cards and your word list so the same link opens them again. Car bingo needs no caller, so you can skip Print call list and the online caller.

How to play car bingo

Car bingo has no caller. Each passenger gets a different card, and the game runs on what people see outside the car. When you spot an item on your card, you mark it. The first player with a full line wins, or the first to fill the whole card if you prefer a longer game.

Before you start, agree on one rule: whether the first person to call out an item is the only one who may mark it. Without this rule, two players can argue over the same sighting. Settle it before the first mile so the game stays fair.

How to make the cards last the whole trip

Give each player a clipboard or a hard book to lean on, and mark squares with a pencil or stickers. For cards you can reuse, slide them into plastic sleeves and use a dry-erase marker; wipe them clean at a rest stop and play again.

What to put on road trip bingo cards

Put items on your cards that you are likely to see on your route and that are easy to spot from a moving car. Large, unusual things work best, such as a water tower, a bridge or a train. Small or rare things can make the game frustrating.

Each grid size needs a set number of different items. A 5 × 5 card with a free space needs 24 items, and without one it needs 25. A 4 × 4 card needs 16. A 3 × 3 card needs 8 with a free space and 9 without. If your list is too short, the tool tells you how many more items are needed.

Every card in a set is different, so no two passengers have the same squares. The tool counts how many different cards a list can make. With the 45 road trip items, a 5 × 5 card with a free space has 3,773,655,750,150 different sets of 24 squares, so you will not run short.

Frequently asked questions

What about kids who cannot read?

Choose the Road trip pictures list. It has 36 emoji, each with a word, such as 🚗 Car, 🚓 Police car, 🚜 Tractor, 🛑 Stop sign, 🌉 Bridge and 🐄 Cow. Children can match the picture to what they see, so they can play before they read well.

Can I print several different cards for the back seat?

Yes. Set the number of cards to as many as you need, up to 500 in one set. Every card in the set is different. Print 4 cards per page, then cut them apart so each passenger has their own card.

Can I save it as a PDF for the trip?

Yes. In the print dialog, choose “Save as PDF” as the printer. Set the scale to 100%, not “fit to page”, so the cards come out at full size.

Can I keep the same cards for later?

Yes. Click Copy link. The link opens exactly the same cards again, including your word list. You can also use a card number made of the game code and position, such as K7Q2MX-1, to show which card is which.

Do I need new cards for each part of the trip?

You can. Click New set to make new random cards with a new game code. Fresh cards for each leg of the journey keep the game interesting.

Does it cost anything or need an account?

No. The generator is free, needs no sign-up, and nothing is uploaded. Your cards are made on your own device.
