Holiday Bingo Card Generator
Winter holiday bingo for classrooms, offices and large groups – words or pictures, a different card for every player.
Holiday bingo cards are printable bingo sheets with squares filled with holiday words, such as Christmas tree, Menorah and Kinara. This bingo card generator makes them for you in your web browser. It is free, needs no sign-up, and nothing is uploaded, because the cards are made on your device.
The page opens in My words mode with the Winter holidays list already loaded, so you can print a set straight away. One click loads the Winter (44 snow and cold-weather words), Winter pictures, Christmas or New Year’s Eve list instead. You can also type your own words, change the grid size, and choose how many different cards you need. A separate Print call list button gives the calling order, so one person can read out the items while everyone marks their squares.
How to make holiday bingo cards
- Open the page. It starts in My words mode with the Winter holidays list loaded. To use a different content choice, pick Numbers 1–75, Numbers 1–90 or Blank (empty squares to fill in by hand).
- Choose a grid size: 3 × 3, 4 × 4 or 5 × 5.
- For 3 × 3 and 5 × 5 grids, switch the free space on or off. Change its text if you like; it starts as FREE.
- Edit the word list. Put one item per line, and add or delete items as needed. To show different text on the card and in the call, write it as card text | call text.
- Set the number of cards, from 1 to 500 per set (the default is 10).
- Choose your print options: 1, 2 or 4 cards per page, US Letter or A4 paper, a card title (it starts as HOLIDAY BINGO), an optional letters row, an optional card number, and one of six colours.
- Use Previous and Next to check each card in the preview.
- Click Print cards. Then click Print call list to get a shuffled calling order with tick boxes, plus the full list in order for checking a winner.
- If you want a fresh set of different cards, click New set.
Click Copy link to save or share your exact cards and word list. The link opens the same cards again, including your changes to the word list.
How many items does a holiday bingo card need?
A 5 × 5 card with a free space needs 24 different items, a 4 × 4 card needs 16, and a 3 × 3 card with a free space needs 8. Without a free space, the counts rise to 25 and 9. If your list is too short, the tool tells you how many more items it needs.
The Winter holidays list has 40 words, which is enough for a 5 × 5 card with room to spare. Because the free space takes up the centre square, a 5 × 5 card uses 24 of your words for each card.
How are holiday bingo cards kept different?
Every card in a set has a different set of squares, so no two cards in the same set match. If your list is too short to make the number of cards you asked for, the tool says how many different cards are possible.
Each set also has a game code, and the same game code and settings always produce the same cards. Each card can show a card number made from the game code and its position, such as K7Q2MX-1, which makes it easy to match a card to a player. With 40 holiday words and a 5 × 5 card with a free space, there are 62,852,101,650 different sets of 24 squares, and the tool still checks that no two cards in a set are the same.
Can holiday bingo include Hanukkah and Kwanzaa?
Yes. The Winter holidays list includes Hanukkah words such as Menorah, Dreidel, Latkes, Chocolate gelt, Sufganiyot and Eight nights, and Kwanzaa words such as Kinara, Seven candles, Unity cup, Kwanzaa mat and Seven principles.
The list reflects the holidays themselves. Hanukkah lasts eight nights, and the menorah used for it holds nine candles: eight plus the helper candle, the shamash. Kwanzaa runs from December 26 to January 1, and its kinara holds seven candles, one for each of the seven principles (Nguzo Saba). You can keep these words or replace any of them with your own.
How does the free space work on a holiday bingo card?
The free space is the centre square, and it can be switched on for 3 × 3 and 5 × 5 grids. Its text defaults to FREE, but you can change it to anything you like.
A 4 × 4 grid has no centre square, so it has no free space. Use a 5 × 5 or 3 × 3 grid if you want one.
Frequently asked questions
How many cards can I print for a large group?
Set the number of cards from 1 to 500 per set. Print 2 or 4 cards per page to use less paper, and use the same call list for everyone, since it is the same for all cards.
Winter bingo for kids: can I use pictures?
Yes. The Winter pictures list uses emoji with a word, such as ❄️ Snowflake, ⛄ Snowman, 🛷 Sled and 🐧 Penguin, so the squares show pictures that young players can match.
Can I play holiday bingo at the office or online?
Yes. Print the cards for an office party, or use the online caller to run the game from a screen. The online caller opens the bingo caller page with the same game and word list.
Can I save holiday bingo cards as a PDF?
Yes. In the print dialog, choose Save as PDF as the printer and set the scale to 100%, not fit to page, so the cards print at full size.
Can young children play holiday bingo?
Yes. Use the Winter pictures list with a 3 × 3 or 4 × 4 grid, so there are fewer squares to look at and each one shows a picture with a word.
Can I mix words from different holidays?
Yes. Load one list, then type or paste extra lines from another, one per line. The word box takes up to 500 items.
